If you have been following me on YouTube for a while, you may wonder why I encourage paid promotion instead of growing organically on social media. One fact remains that all social media platforms have transformed over the years and still do today. And if you still run social media as you did two or three years ago, you are already missing out.
Unfair Advantage
Many YouTubers with millions of subscribers on their channels today; a good number of them started over seven years ago and are based in developed countries. You can also succeed on YouTube from your current location, but these top YouTubers have some unfair advantages that many of us might not get during our course on social media.
If you don’t want to chase clout for numbers but want to earn as you impact people’s life through your gifts and skills, it will be appropriate to don’t wait for the algorithms to promote your enterprise on social media.
Many of the YouTubers that currently have hundreds of thousands of subscribers or more, at some point, ran paid promotions on their channels. Probably not directly by them but to their advantage. These creators have worked with some brands that saw their content as a relative point that benefits their business; hence they promoted the content of these YouTubers, and that gave them more visibility.
Wrong Side of the Algorithm
Don’t get me wrong; many creators still grow massively organically. You may have yet to get these opportunities, and you will depend on SEOs, great thumbnails, and well-engaging content to up your game. But the issue with organic growth is that each time the algorithm changes, your content might fall on the wrong side. And the only way to sustain the already attained height is to promote your content to your target audience.
Remember, some years ago, the YouTube algorithm recommended videos of channels based on their subscriber count. Back then, having many subscribers was a big deal because the more subscribers you have, the more people YouTube will recommend your videos to. But today, that’s not the case. Your videos are recommended to only those who have shown interest and to those who might also show interest.
Studio – Promotion (beta) Tab
This is where promoting your content right comes in. With a tool like YouTube Ads (a part of Google Ads), you can spend a little and gain more from paid promotions.
To wrap up this post, it is no longer news that YouTube is introducing YouTube Ads directly to your Studio (Promotion tab). Some creators already have access to the beta version, and by the time YouTube is done with the testing, every creator will be able to promote their content and get analytics of their promotions right inside the YouTube Studio.
When you join my YouTube Ads Master Class, you will learn how to use this tool effectively to improve your success rate on YouTube. No digital marketing jargon and every topic is detailed and straight to the point.
